I thought it would be interesting to have a go at making my own starter. We are currently on lockdown due to the Covid19 virus, so back to basics is good to learn.
Day1. 50g pl flour/50ml water mix together and loosely cover, leave it
Day 2. Feed it with 50g pl flour/50ml water mix together, cover and leave
Day 3. Discard 100g and feed the rest with 100g pl flour/100ml water mix together and leave
Day 4. Discard 100g and feed the rest with 100g pl flour/100ml water mix together and leave
Day 5. It should be starting to ferment. Discard 200g and feed the rest with 150g pl flour/150ml water mix together and leave
Day 6. Discard 250g and feed the rest with 200g pl flour/200ml water mix together and leave
Day7. It should now be smelling lovely and yeasty and will be ready to use
Once it has matured you can keep it in the fridge and feed weekly, or keep it on the side in the kitchen and feed daily. If you remove 100ml add 50g flour and 50ml of water.
